Best Buy Strikes Again

A horror story with a warranty claim from Best Buy in Whitehall, PA

Well, anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Best Buy. Actually, I really do, I get a lot of customers who Best Buy screws over. Until recently, I never shared publicly about the exploits they pull, but I got a friend whose head got removed from his body for my freedom of speech, so I'll say it.

So here is the story. My client, Best Buy Lawyers if you want his name send me a subenea, and I'll give it back to you with the counter suit, took his IN WARRANTY laptop to the local Best Buy here, because the hard drive failed. Failed miserably. I plugged it in, and it started talking to aliens, sounded like "click click beep half retarded modem noise", etc, etc etc.

Hard drive completely failed, its worthless, unless you are ET trying to phone home and have laryingitis. Now, this client didn't expect technology to work perfect everytime, and understanding that bought the EXTENDED WARRANTY from Best Buy.

So when he got his computer back from the Best Buy here in Whitehall, they told him they replaced the hard drive, but if he wanted them to load windows, he was going to have to buy a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (199.99), and pay to have it installed. They called me, and quickly left the store with thier laptop, complete with the absolutely empty hard drive.

Seriously, this is like buying a brand new car, driving it 10,000 miles, and having the engine die on you. Get it towed to the shop, they throw the engine in and then tell you, its gonna cost extra to hook it up to the fuel lines.

Well, I was outraged, and it is time somebody stood up to this bully.

And just for the record, I was able to install Windows 7 on the machine, and activate it using the license he already paid for. I also recovered all of the data from the drive, for less than $100.
