Best Buy Redeems themselves.

A rare find, compliments to Best Buy in Quakertown, PA

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I despise Best Buy. For upgrades, I normally offer my clients the choice, I can order the parts for you, or I can send you the link to order them yourself.

I usually use Newegg or Tiger Direct, and really have never had a problem. This time I sent a link for laptop memory on NewEgg. This client ordered the part from Newegg, and for some reason, NewEgg sent a completely different, and uncompatable part. She called Newegg after I informed her of this, and they apologized, and offered to fix it and covered shipping both ways. The service I have come to expect from both NewEgg and Tiger Direct.

However, when the new part came back, it was the same exact part she returned (suspected user error in the intial order). Now frustrated, she decided to buy the part from a local store. So this client called me from Staples in Quakertown. This was around Friday at noon. The customer service at Staples was of no service what so ever. The representative was completely at a loss and had no idea how to find a 2GB PC5300 200 pin SODIMM. I even went as far as looking up the part number from the Staples website, and the representative was still as useless as a freezer in Antarticia.

Now, I could understand if I asked her what the chip configuration was, or how it worked, or why it wasn't working correctly. However lady, it is your job to sell this equipment, familairize yourself with it. Know the terms of the trade.

Now, my client, extremely frustrated by now, and probably wishing she would of let me order the part, went to Best Buy. Not only did she not have to call me from the store, but they even let her exchange the part from NewEgg for store credit, which covered the new RAM chip. Granted they wanted almost three times as much for it (29.99 on NewEgg, 84.99 at BestBuy), but I believe in giving credit where credit is due, and this time Best Buy, you did good.
